One of the best parts of my job is that I occasionally get asked to capture special moments in the lives of my personal loved ones. I’ll start by saying that I know Anna personally – as a past co-worker in the social work field, Anna and I have shared some tough moments. We’ve cried together, worked holidays together (New Years Eve spent painting my office, wohooo! and bonded over our ever-loving passion for our dog-children). I still remember the day she walked into my office and proudly held up her hand with a ring on it – we were so excited!! Needless to say, when she asked me to capture her engagement/wedding day, it was an easy YES.

Anna and Jon share a fun relationship. A silly one, honestly. Between their engagement session and throughout their wedding day they were truly living in the moment and just goofing around like they always do. The wedding took place at Virmond Park in Mequon – on the cliffside overlooking Lake Michigan. A truly breathtaking sight! My personal favorite touch was the dogs of honor: Atlas and Violet, who walked down the aisle like true champs. Another special highlight of the day was post-first look when they both exchanged notes they wrote to each other, and just took a moment to be together before heading to the trolley with their bridal party.

To wrap it up with a personal note: as a wedding photographer, I wear many hats on the day of the wedding. I am a coordinator, a dress train holder, a dress fluffer, a bug killer, a hair fixer, and jewelry-clipper. I do this as second nature for my brides; however, as I clipped Anna’s necklace as one of her final steps to getting ready a flood of memories filled my mind, and it suddenly felt like an honor to be doing so.
