I’m not going to lie to you… I’m writing this in the middle of the COVID-19 Quarantine (I can’t even say that it’s the “middle,” because who knows when it’s going to end!), and I am hardcore missing client interaction. I’ve been saving this blog post for a rainy day, and quite honestly for a time when I actually had a moment to sit down and write, and today seems fitting as I am missing photography a little extra today.
When Amber & Erik asked me to photograph their February Destination Wedding in Punta Cana, I couldn’t pass up the offer! My husband, Andy, packed his bags to come along with me, we kissed our three fur-children goodbye, and off we went! Andy took on many roles, including being my second shooter and assistant for the day of, and I should give him an extra “shout-out” in this blog for 95% of the below images.
We stayed at the Majestic Colonial all-inclusive Resort, and for any of my readers who like to travel – I highly recommend!! The hospitality, cleanliness, food, and overall environment were absolutely outstanding. Everyone was so nice! We stayed at the resort for 5 nights, so it was the perfect escape from the cold Wisconsin weather.
The wedding day itself was so magical. Amber couldn’t have made a more beautiful bride, and everything about the day was truly and adventure! We had a few obstacles like heat, tropical wind, and shooting portraits in direct harsh sunlight at noon, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing! Everything turned out absolutely PERFECT. Throughout the trip and wedding day, I really loved getting to know and work with the Amber & Erik’s family and friends. They were all so welcoming and kind to us. I couldn’t imagine a better group of people to travel and work with! Such a fun bunch!
As I reminisce on these images now, I can’t help but feel hopeful that the 2020 Wedding Season will be able to safely continue soon. I miss these moments with my clients, but know they are just around the corner.
