Chloe + Ben | Intimate Wisconsin Wedding | April 4, 2020

Happily Ever After….

That means something different for everyone. For most, it’s celebrated with an extravagant event with a few hundred of your closest friends and family members. For Chloe & Ben, their plans were no different. They had been planning a gorgeous Spring wedding for well over a year now. I’ve known Chloe since (hmm.. Preschool? I don’t even know!! A long time!), so I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of her special day. Over the past year, I have absolutely loved gushing over wedding planning with Chloe.

My heart physically broke when they came to the realization that their wedding day would be affected by the craziness of the virus going around, and the state ban on gatherings. Their year of wedding planning came crashing down on them, and everything crumbled before their eyes just weeks before their big day.

They say “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” and I truly believe that the way they handled the devastation was a true statement as to how strong their relationship is. They didn’t want to wait any longer to commit to one another, so they decided that they didn’t need the glitz & glam, the dance party, or anything else that they had planned for. They were ready to become “the Held’s,” so that’s what they did!

A 10-person wedding in their very own backyard is what they decided on, and it was beyond PERFECT. There was so many smiles, so much laughter, and yup, tears as well (Ben I’m calling you out!). It may not have been the “dream” wedding they had been planning for, but it was the most perfect, happy day to become the Helds.

And, my personal favorite part of the day was at the very end of the evening. Backstory – at their engagement session I played their first dance song “Beautiful Crazy” and let them dance, for some cute candid photos. I knew they weren’t going to have an “official” first dance, so with their permission I played the song again for them at the end of their Bridal Portraits and let them have their first dance together. I literally almost cried!!

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Held!
